Skin Science 101: Why Tallow Is So Effective
Why Tallow? Because Your Skin Recognizes It.
Tallow is great for your skin because it closely resembles the natural oils your skin produces, making it easily absorbed and very nourishing. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and packed with nourishing fatty acids. It supports hydration, barrier repair, and healing, all without the chemicals found in typical skincare.
Peace Of Mind In Every Jar
No hidden chemicals. No mystery ingredients. Just tallow from grass-fed animals, soothing herbs, and nourishing oils you can recognize. Because peace of mind starts with knowing exactly what you’re feeding your skin.
FAQ's
Where do you source your tallow?
We source our tallow from sustainable, grass-fed and finished farms right here in Alberta. These small-scale farmers prioritize ethical practices, animal welfare, and regenerative land care — so you can feel good about what you’re putting on your skin and where it comes from.
Does it smell like beef or animal fat?
Not at all. Our multi-step purification ensures the grass-fed tallow is clean and odorless before whipping. This creates a neutral base for the sweet, herbaceous notes of Blue Tansy and the earthy, resinous warmth of Frankincense, resulting in a sophisticated botanical aroma rather than a beefy one.
Is it good for sensitive skin?
Tallow is rendered fat from grass-fed cows that closely mimics the natural oils (sebum) in our skin. It’s rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K — making it deeply nourishing, healing, and perfect for dry or sensitive skin.
What's the shelf life?
Unopened, our tallow products will stay fresh for up to 12 months. Once opened, we recommend using them within 6 months for optimal freshness and nutrient potency.
Care Instructions: Because our formulations are 100% waterless and free from synthetic chemical preservatives, they are sensitive to temperature and moisture. To maximize their shelf life, store your jars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and always ensure your hands are clean and dry before dipping into the product.
Is this product safe for babies and children?
Because our Lemon Sorbet cream is infused with an active botanical blend of Lemongrass, Ylang Ylang, and Bergamot essential oils, we recommend this specific product for children aged 2 to 3 years and older.
A baby's skin barrier is highly delicate and thin, making these potent oils too powerful for infant skin. For babies and toddlers under 2, we always recommend sticking to completely unscented, essential oil-free tallow products. If introducing it to an older child, we always suggest doing a quick 24-hour patch test first!
Is it safe to use during pregnancy?
While our grass-fed tallow base is perfectly safe and deeply nourishing for expanding bellies, our Lemon Sorbet cream contains an active botanical blend of Lemongrass, Ylang Ylang, and Bergamot essential oils. Bergamot can increase skin photosensitivity, and some prenatal guidelines suggest limiting high-citral oils like Lemongrass during pregnancy. Because every pregnancy is unique, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider or midwife before introducing this specific blend to your routine.
If you are looking for a completely worry-free option, we always suggest our unscented tallow products for expecting mothers!
