FAQ's
Will this cause milia or clog my pores?
For most people, no. Milia (those tiny, harmless white keratin bumps) and clogged pores usually occur when heavy synthetic ingredients, heavy waxes, or low-quality oils sit on top of the skin without absorbing.
To ensure the absolute lightest, most skin-compatible texture, we skip heavy, suffocating plant butters like shea or mango. Instead, we pair our grass-fed tallow with ultra-light, non-comedogenic squalane and premium, high-quality botanical extracts. This combination delivers deep nourishment without a heavy, suffocating film.
However, because everyone’s skin chemistry is unique, we always recommend a patch test and applying a very small, pea-sized amount to damp skin.
Where do you source your tallow?
We source our tallow from sustainable, grass-fed and finished farms right here in Alberta. These small-scale farmers prioritize ethical practices, animal welfare, and regenerative land care — so you can feel good about what you’re putting on your skin and where it comes from.
Does it smell like beef or animal fat?
Nope! We use high-quality, grass-fed and finished suet tallow that's triple-filtered and dry-rendered to remove any strong odour. The balm has a neutral, natural scent with a slight nuttiness from the calendula infusion.
Is it good for sensitive skin?
Tallow is rendered fat from grass-fed cows that closely mimics the natural oils (sebum) in our skin. It’s rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K — making it deeply nourishing, healing, and perfect for dry or sensitive skin.
Does this product contain synthetic fragrances?
Never. The warm, comforting aroma comes entirely from our slow, natural infusion process using real vanilla beans and aromatic coffee beans. You are smelling the true, raw botanical ingredients, not a synthetic chemical perfume.
What's the shelf life?
Unopened, our balm will stay fresh for up to 12 months. Once opened, we recommend using it within 6 months for optimal freshness and botanical potency.
To maximize freshness: Store your jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Because this is a pure, waterless product with no synthetic chemical preservatives, always ensure your hands are clean and dry before dipping into the jar to keep moisture out.
